The Catholic Church in New Orleans in 1929

I will not belabor the general historic information on the Catholic Church in New Orleans since much of the information is freely available on the web at The Catholic Encyclopedia.

The Current State of the Church

In 1929 the curch remains much as it had in before the split and still performs mass in Latin (the Catholic Church here does not recognise Vatican II,) and most of the church doors are open through the night in the better neighborhoods.

Going to church on Sunday is very much a social occasion, which allows neighbors to talk and news to travel.

Archbishop McAllister is the current head of the church in the Region.
